Unique Top Eye
The strongest top eye in the market, in solid stainless steel. It has three independent lifting points: one for the lifting sling and two for the elastic compensator.
- 3 independent lifting points
- Solid stainless steel
- Min. shackle pin 25 mm

Elastic compensator
The second, independent sling. It absorbs the wave motion when the basket lands on a floating unit and stops the basket from rotating. The lifting sling and the compensator can each carry the basket with full payload.
- Safety factor ≥ 10
- Absorbs wave motion at landing
- Replaced every 12 months

Lifting sling
The main sling, as a wire sling or a chain sling. It can carry the basket with its full payload on its own. It is checked at every annual service and replaced after 5 years.
- Wire sling or chain sling
- Carries 100 % of the load alone
- Safety factor ≥ 10
- Checked yearly, replaced after 5 years

Top float and net
The top net protects the passengers against dropped objects. The float at the top adds buoyancy and helps keep the basket upright in the water.
- Protection against dropped objects
- Extra buoyancy at the top

Seats with suspension
Four seats with seat belts, each on a suspended pedestal that absorbs the vertical shock when the basket lands on a moving deck. Shock-absorbing seats are a requirement in NORSOK R-002.
- 4 seats with seat belts
- 560 kg rated capacity
- Required by NORSOK R-002

Buoyancy tanks
Blue buoyancy tanks inside and outside the frame. If the basket ends up in the water, it floats upright with its full payload.
- Floats upright with full payload
- Tanks inside and outside the frame

Non-skid floor
5 mm aluminium plates with a non-skid surface and drainage, so water runs off and the footing stays safe when passengers step in and out.
- 5 mm aluminium plates
- Drainage
- Non-skid surface

PUR bumper fender
The orange PUR fender protects the passengers against harmful deceleration at landing, and against lateral impact if the basket swings into an obstruction.
- Vertical impact protection, 4 m/s
- Lateral impact protection, 2 m/s
- Non-skid PUR surface
Eight parts that matter.
Every part of the 1145-4-N has one job: to bring four people safely between deck and platform. Built in AISI 316L stainless steel, non-collapsible and 100 % made in the EU.
1Hover or tap a number on the photo to see that part up close. Use the arrows to go through all eight.

4 m/s
2 m/s

Built for maximum personnel safety.
The 1145-4-N is a sit-down basket, not a traditional standing basket. Every passenger sits in an individual seat with a fastened seat belt, on a suspended pedestal, inside a rigid stainless steel frame. This is how it protects personnel against the main risks in a crane transfer.
4 m/s vertical, full payload. Each seat sits on a suspended pedestal that absorbs the vertical shock. The PUR fender protects against harmful deceleration, and the elastic compensator absorbs the wave motion at landing.
2 m/s lateral, full payload. The orange PUR fender takes the hit if the basket swings into a vessel side or a platform leg. The seat belt keeps each passenger in the seat, and foam and tarpaulin cover the inside structure.
A seat belt on every seat. Every passenger stays seated with the seat belt fastened during the lift, with handlebars in front of the seat. Four rope sections surround the seats and close with click-buckle straps.
Top net. The top net protects the passengers against objects falling from above.
2 independent slings, SF ≥ 10. A lifting sling and an elastic compensator, on a Top Eye with 3 independent lifting points. Each sling can carry the basket with its full payload if the other one fails.
Self-righting. Buoyancy tanks inside and outside the frame make the basket self-righting. It floats upright with its full payload, with the passengers in their seats above the surface. A work life jacket or a survival suit with buoyancy is still required.
Stretcher + 2 persons. An injured person on a stretcher travels safely fastened, together with two other persons. The stretcher goes straight in over the seats, with no modification of the basket.
DNV, NORSOK, ABS. Approved by DNV according to NORSOK R-002:2017, which requires shock-absorbing seats. Prototype load tests witnessed by DNV, an ABS Product Design Assessment, and every basket is load tested before use.
Built for the worst minute of the transfer.

Three lifting points
The stainless Top Eye carries a lifting sling and a compensator. Either one holds the full load alone.

Suspended seats
Four seats with belts on pedestals that absorb the vertical shock of a hard landing.

Floats upright
Inside and outside buoyancy keep the basket upright in the water with its full payload.

Room for a stretcher
An injured person on a stretcher travels safely fastened, together with two other persons. No modification of the basket is needed: the stretcher goes straight in.

Impact protection
The strongest impact protection in the market, vertically and horizontally. The PUR fender takes the hit.

AISI 316L, non-collapsible
A rigid stainless frame, 100 % made in the EU, welded to procedures approved by DNV.
In and out fast, with no shortcuts on safety.
Crew change is time-critical, but speed must never come before safety. The 1145-4-N is built so passengers can step in, sit down and get out again quickly and safely.
-
Non-skid pattern on all entrances, exits and the floor
-
Rope sections close with fast click-buckle straps for a fast and easy exit
-
Four seats with seat belts
-
The compensator works as a tag line, so the crane operator keeps the basket under control
-
Non-skid surface on the orange PUR fender
Two slings. Either one is enough.
The basket comes with two independent slings: a lifting sling and an elastic compensator. Each of them can carry the basket with its full payload if the other one fails.
-
Top Eye with 3 independent lifting eyes
-
Safety factor ≥ 10 on each sling
-
Elastic compensator absorbs wave motion
-
Load tested at 1,120 kg (2 × SWL)
-
Compensator renewed every 12 months, sling every 5 years
If it goes in the water, it stays upright.
The 1145-4-N is self-righting. Buoyancy tanks inside and outside the frame keep the basket floating in an upright position with its full payload. The passengers stay in their seats, above the surface.
-
Floats upright with full payload

When someone is hurt.
The basket takes a stretcher with an injured person, safely fastened, together with two other persons. The instruction for fastening the stretcher comes with every basket. No modification of the basket is needed, so an injured person can be evacuated quickly.

When the deck moves.
Each seat sits on a suspended pedestal that absorbs the vertical shock at landing. Shock-absorbing seats are a requirement in NORSOK R-002.

From ESVAGT to SAFE TRANSFER®
In 1985, the Danish shipping company ESVAGT A/S developed the first Safe Transfer personnel basket. Its success led ESVAGT to transfer production rights to West-Marine A/S in 2014. That same year, Safe Transfer A/S was founded with a clear mission: to further develop and improve the safety basket’s design for offshore crew transfers.
Watch: NORSOK approved 1145-4-N, instruction

“When we took over the basket from ESVAGT in 2014, we kept what made it work: a rigid stainless steel frame built to last more than 30 years. Every improvement since then follows one concept: Safety for Life.”
Carsten Larsen, CEO, Safe Transfer A/S
